It was a good year to hang an elephant.

There's A Skeleton In A Trainyard In East Tennessee It was 1916, and things were changing fast. World War I raged in Europe. Dadaism, ripe with comic derision and irrationality, took hold in artistic circles. Freeform jazz took hold of the American music scene. Margaret Sanger opened the first birth-control clinic. It was a good year for scapegoats. It was a good year to hang an elephant.

My first thought on elephant day was to post about the time Thomas Edison electrocuted an elephant named Jumbo to prove the dangers of alternating current. alas, I found that Quonsar had beaten me to it years ago. I almost re-posted anyway, because we didn't have this YouTube of the elephant actually being electrocuted in the original post. Someone should FPP it before elephant day is over.

Nice to see you in the spirit of things, SOL.

This is fantastic. I wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for quonsar.

You can argue with s-o-l about a lot of things re: elephant day, but calling out a simple double post? I mean, are you arguing that *all* standards go out the window on theme days?

Dude, regardless of what you think about my stance on Elephant Day, it is still worthwhile to point out doubles, and irrelevant whether ot not I or anyone else doesn't call out every double. Ferchrissakes.
