For some reason, there's a one off Turkish cover version of The Man Trap, that old episode of ST:TOS with the salt monster that leeches saline from your body with its fingertips. And while it's been mentioned before, that was years ago, before the actual episode could be found on YouTube.

I found Turkish Star Wars on a P2P network a while back and watched a good half of it. Hilariously funny, but also stupendously awful.

At least the Turks are pretty spoiled for cool outdoor Star Trekesque settings - those at least are better than the original.

Is that a few bars from Echos by Pink Floyd around the 2 minute mark?

Note also: A young Jackie Mason as Spock. Robert Shaw reprising his Jaws captain as guy with hat. And then a white guy turns into Clarence Williams III. Solid, Keptain Kirk.

Listen as the sound effects guy has to make the swooshing open door sound too many times in a row and finally (about 3:18) sounds like he's whistling for a cab but can't pucker anymore.

Yup. Sound at 9:14. That there's some Pink alright. When the babe is turned into a bearskin rug. The last few seconds are worth the 1.6b paid for YouTube. Thanks, jonson!

It's awful indeed. However, you should know it was meant as a comedy/spoof, so the awfulness is intentional to a large degree.

Now the Turkish Spiderman, I'm not so clear on.

This is as cool as Led Zeppelin, chocolate, and dry socks combined.

Thank you so much for posting this.
I'm new to MeFi so I'm not sure I understand why there are people that poo-poo links like this. I always thought the 'unusual' links on MeFi were better and more informative than other sites... so I consider a post like this a gem.
Keep up the good work.

First the nobel prize, now this... welcome to TURKISHFilter.

There, I fixed that for ya.

You know, these early pilots were done on the cheap. Later they got better special effects and English-speaking actors and it became the success we know today.

I see the character vaguely resembling Harcourt Fenton Mudd is the recurring character in a Turkish film series. It's certainly cribbing from more than "The Man Trap", too.

I actually saw this on TV in a hotel in Istanbul. At first I thought, "look, Star Trek dubbed into Turkish". Then I realized that the characters and sets all looked a little... off... A lot off, in fact. Definitely hilarious.

The 1971 Turkish remake of The Wizard Of Oz is sublime. Seriously, it's so spectacularly inept that after about ten minutes you start to think that it's operating in a dangerously avant-garde new mode of cinematic storytelling.

This is awesome. There is something about not understanding the language (the Mexican soap opera effect) that enhances absurdity.

I loved the "shhhh" effects as the door opened and closed. I loved that they were all (pretty much) wearing different color uniforms. I loved that Spocks powers allowed him to detect secret doors (my pnp dnd days tell me that he must be an elf.) I build up enough outrage from KPFA, this could have been a one-link FPP and I would have applauded it. Thank you, kind stranger.

And I really think that salt-lovin' white guy turned into Ernie Hudson.
