Disney will finally shut down Go.com Guess I wasn't the only one to think Go was a bad idea. Ever since Disney started doing the Go thing, their Disney.com site went from useful to down-right nasty. They might as well have called it goaway.com. I just hope what they mean by streamlining is take away the crap and make this stuff useful. The move was praised by Wall Street analysts. "Good riddance"

I know people who work (ED) at Go. Good people. Crappy site. I don't think this surprised anybody in the industry.

Not happy for the people (I even took out a comment to the fact before posting) but happy to see the site die. I too am stuck in a job overdesigning a site which I'm sure is similarly doomed to failure. If only the big-wigs would realize that you don't have to do *everything*, just do something, and do it well.

Does anyone know if the Infoseek directory is still in Go.Com somewhere?

I liked it when it was just infoseek, but Disney ruined it with big nasty banner ads and an intermediary "search results" page that was just a bunch of irrelevant ads with your search criteria clumsily grafted onto "buy books about" or "get the lowest prices on".

man I hate it when they do that.
