What I’m talking about here is the full-frontal objectification of the library itself. Oh yeah.

Maybe I would've learned more if we had libraries like that here in the US.
No, probably not. But I would've had fun running around inside them!

Alexandria--now that was one hot library--up to the time the world's symbolic hard drive crashed.
I know it’s not exactly true or even known, but isn’t it delicious to think most human knowledge is based on the few scrolls that were checked out, past due, and escaped the blaze.
Had those Greeks back up their work, we’d all be in flying cars today.

Many a moon ago, I used to do role playing games with some friends, and I mastered a game via the DC Heroes RPG system, in which the heroes stumbled upon a place called The Hall of Doors, which was an interdimensional link to seemingly random places in time and space. At the far end of the Hall of Doors there was something I simply called The Liibrary. Many adventures stemmed from that place. It became a sort of base of operations for the team.
I did my best to describe it to them without the benefit of these images, but essentially, The Library was all of these pictures in one room. I wish I had access to the Internet back in 1987. Woulda made visual aids for RPGs much easier.

Um.... people here know about the thriving sub-genre of erotica which involves sex in libraries, right?
Or maybe I just imagined that. *looks around uncertainly*

Hot!
The thing labled as the British Library is now actually the Reading Room of the British Museum. Marx wrote his manifesto there.

Yeah yeah yeah. Real nice. But I went into that Andelingenkamer Tweede Kamer Der Staten-Generaal Den Haag place and they didn't have the new John Grisham book.
great post thanks

First, I slip off your buckram, exposing your anthropodermic bibliopegy. Then, I slowly unstitch your quire. There are three nested signatures and I spread them apart. I stroke the recto side of your outer leaf and your imposition becomes undone. Your words start getting blurry as my paper size increases from a flaccid sextodecimo to a raging folio. Next, I lick the foxing off of your page. In a great passion, I peruse deep into your content, coming to a full stop on your foamcore mounting. I quietly slip you back into your shelf, making a mental note of your Colon classification, so I can look you up later.

That was AWESOME. Count me among those who had to light up a smoke after viewing that hawt leather-on-paper action.
Seriously, my wife just mocked me for showing her the "library porn" - "yeah, that *does* get you off, doesn't it?" Maybe it's because I dragged her to the musty old bookstore last night, and when she got sick and felt faint, I sent her outside for air and said "just 10 more minutes, babe."
I love my wife, but books are the mistress who always understands me and never asks questions.
