I find it a bit strange that people spend so much time on this. I mean, he's not really any more or less vapid than 90% of other Top 40 acts these days. Nothing to get worked up about (or link to every seven days).
posted by The God Complex at 2:18 PM on November 3, 2006

I only linked to it because the tags were funny. It could've been about any empty music act and it would still have made me laugh.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's amusing. I also think, on another level, it's interesting how online consuming has changed in the past seven or eight years. It's nice to have that sort of instant feedback on something--another favorite feature is the "if you like this, you might also like...".

I just think it's weird people are so up in arms over K-Fed, of all people. I was speaking towards the tags themselves more than this actual post, though I do think it's weird that we've spent two threads on Metafilter bashing K-Fed in the past week or two.
posted by The God Complex at 2:30 PM on November 3, 2006

the most interesting thing about that page is that the paging at the bottom doesn't work.
posted by dvdgee at 2:36 PM on November 3, 2006

You fools! We're bashing K-Fed because we're victims of the hype machine. It's designed to get people talking about him, be it good publicity or snarky, vitriolic comments questioning his sexuality. Bad publicity is good publicity. Etcetera.

You know, making fun of K-Fed is like shooting fish in a barrel.* But sometimes, it's really fun to shoot fish in a barrel!

P.S. Read the reviews as well. Also funny.

* Or ah, shooting quail.

This meme will also die if we feed it to death. Which strikes me as the more enjoyable option, really.

I'm shocked, shocked! that the word "douche" only appears once on that whole page.

"god made this because he hates you" has to be my favorite.

You know, that album has been out for, what, a week? and already 20 people would prefer to sell it used at a loss rather than enduring its blighting the rest of their CD collection.

I freely admit that I'm old and getting older, but what's the difference between him and Eminem? They're both narcissistic white boys that hate their women.

Is Eminem really that much more talented? If not, why the hate here?
posted by letitrain at 5:20 PM on November 3, 2006

Uh, you really think this guy is in the same league as Eminem? Really? You may not like Eminem's music, misogyny or homophobia, but he's got more musical talent in his eyelashes than k-fed does in his whole being.
posted by jikel_morten at 5:35 PM on November 3, 2006

No, no, I like Eminem's music, misogyny and homophobia, but I don't see a big difference between him and "KFed." At least in the samples I tried on iTunes.

Yes. And that answers your first question as well. They're both narcissistic white boys that hate their women, but Eminem is really that much more talented.

He's onto something there: America does indeed hate him, but it's not an active, consuming hatred, it's a mild, persistent annoyance, the way that a dumbass brother-in-law gets on your nerves. And that's really what Federline is: the guy in your life that you wish would just quietly disappear, but he won't, since he's married into your family and you're now stuck with him.
From the AllMusic review.
