AVG Anti Virus free no more, Are there any other Freeware Antivirus software?

AVG Anti Virus Freeware is being discontinued on the 15th, they are going trial versions only. Are there any other freeware anti-virus software out there? Almost all my applications besides my OS are shareware, freeware or opensource. (Well, not games.) Just wondering if there are any other freeware Anti-virus software out there, or my only option to buy one.

I think you're reading it wrong. The free version 7.1 is being discontinued and replaced by free version 7.5.
GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. This new 7.5 version with improved performance and full compatibility with the latest Windows Vista version is available. Users that are using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option fulfilling their needs. AVG Free 7.1 version will be discontinued on 15th of Jan 2007.

PC World has a comparison that ranks AntiVir Personal #7, Avast Home edition #8 and Grisoft AVG Free Edition #10. All are free.

Ha, No doubt, I have askme and mefi next to each other in my toolbar. But the right version is a PAID FOR version.

They dont have 7.5 listed as free, they have it as "Trial" now.

What part of "New Free Anti-Virus -- GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition" says that it's a trial version?

"I squirt a picture to you, you squirt multimedia back to me," said Ballmer. "Sure, boom boom boom, we can do that and we do do that. In fact, no one squirts better than we do. But with Open Source, you don't know whose rights you are violating when you squirt."

...and I love keswick's Mac, too...now that I've hacked into it. I never knew nude photos of Jessica Tandy even existed.

OK, so now I know there's something out there that keswick isn't "meh" about.
