Do I need to be on something to appreciate this?

I don't know why I liked that, but I did.

Lizards! They've all morphed to lizards!

And Han shot first (the check-in clerk, that is).

please don't let this "a gong will sound when loaded" spread like the "under construction" banners of yore.

Obviously a lot of effort, but not to the greatest effect. Star Wars and Hunter Thompson were never likely to meld well, regardless of how much overlap may exist among their appreciators.

just because something can be done, is no grounds for actually doing it.

that was great, but I had to watch it with the sound off

caddis - I might have enjoyed it more with the visuals turned off as well as the sound.

Oh, GOOD, another Star Wars parody, boy, we can never have enough of that.

I might have not actively hated it if the pacing was a little better.

I liked it even better with the sound on. To each his own.

This is not really long enough to be coherent... it could have been Star Wars, it could have been Fear & Loathing, but it ended up being neither.

The creation falls far short of its potential.

So, something like this can either work or not. In this case, not. What tylermoody said.

Personally, I could tell you seconds into it just how bad it was going to be by the writing of the first line. It was dumb and thus all that followed were dumb. And it was slow. We lingered on the people who did it for WAY too long at the beginning, which is never a good sign.

Why can't people who make short movies (or whateveryoucallems) recognize that their title credits should be very very short?

We'd have to go before the invention of paper, because a stack of paper and something to write with is all it takes.

When I was a kid we used to be able to pick out free books under the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program and I used to pick out the largest ones because they made for better flip-book animations.

"copyright 2001"?

So they take three copywritten pieces (Sympathy for the devil, Star wars and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), throygh them in a blender and they can copyright it? Sounds like fraud to me.
posted by subaruwrx at 2:29 PM on November 12, 2006

more like derivative work (although the prior copyright owners get to control those)

It is neither fraud nor a derivative work. It is a parody. A poor one.

It was nice that he tried to mimic Ralph Steadman's art style. Even succeeded, a little bit.

Other than that, yeah, pretty much what everyone else said.

Technically, a parody is a derivative work. Parody is a form of fair use in defense to a charge of copyright infringment. This video probably qualifies.
