First major open-source MMO?

Raising for Ryzom. Saga Of Ryzom's parent company is having some sort of undisclosed trouble, and a group of users are raising funds to purchase the source code and art assets. So far, they've raised 60k in euros.

An open source MMO. Excellent idea on the surface, but talk about security holes. Still, it goes to show how some of the so-called "niche" MMOs have a dedicated (and by no means small) fanbase.

They still haven't raised anything. They are collecting pledges for donation at the moment.

The underlying engine of Ryzom has always been open source.
