Gives a whole new poignancy to the term 'hosed'. Hearing about this sort of destruction always makes me feel like time is running out to see the world's wonders before they're gone.

that's awful and sad. i wonder why no one who was knowlegable about the temple was aware of the destruction that went on for 10 days. i wonder why the workers employed (admitedly, they were farmers) did not realize that they were damaging it. i wonder why no one skilled at restoration was brought in to consult.
