What was that old medical school saying about what a great choice dermatology was? Your patients never get better, never get worse, and they don't wake you up in the middle of the night -- unless you count the horrible nightmares you get after a day at the clinic.

This reminds me of the nine months I endured extreme ezcema (the bleeding, scabbing, down-to-the-dermis, white flesh, with cracks leaking puss and blood out, stained shirts that would stick to my back and needing to replace blood-soaked jeans and sheets.) Yeah. Seriously.

I haven't looked but this sounds about as bad as the "decor" at my obstetrician's office. Nothing like spending 20+ minutes waiting for the OB to show up with nothing to look at but posters of nasty looking problems of the nether region...

I've got one of the less-fun diseases in there, and I'll tell you ... every time I flip through a dermatology book, I keep expecting to find my own face staring back at me from a full-color plate. It's not really rational, and is kinda Twilight Zone, but there it is.

Interesting, though they don't go as far into the side effects as I think they should. Their warnings on methotrexate treatment for psoriases don't go into the 5% of patients with moderate to severe lung effects, which can result in long-term damage or death (as it did for my mother this year). I did note however that they warned on the monitoring of the drug that liver biopsies be performed every 1-1.5g of dosage, which I hadn't heard before. So...interesting and informative, but not complete.

Rosacea gets worse by far than the pics they show on that page. I saw one man which much of his face and neck like the nose of the worst afflicated on that page.

I just got back from my doctor's with a new antibiotics prescription for my rosacea. He chuckled indulgently when I told him about the site and said that I had nothing to worry about, that they always put the worst pictures in the literature. Then he told me about the even worse cases he sees on the streets, not in the clinic. Between my doctor and you guys, I am not reassured.

My favorite is Chapter 6, section3, which covers Notalgia Paresthetica (NP), Delusions of Parasitosis (DOP), and the ominously named Itchy Red Bump Disease (IRBD).
