Legistorm is "the Web's only source for congressional salaries." You can search for staff salaries by senator/representative, committee, or state; information is culled from Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House reports. With all the prestige of being, say, Sen. Barack Obama's "Special Assistant," you can also expect to pull in a cool $12K a year.

I've been told that this has caused major consternation on the hill, with staffers being able to compare their salaries vs their peers'...

Looks like Obama runs a sweatshop. A bunch of his staff are well below the poverty line.

Because bonuses may be included here and other payments may not be (most notably with aides working for multiple offices or for a political campaign committee), please use caution in extrapolating annual salaries from the figures shown here.
