Bruce Springsteen didn't win the rights to BruceSpringsteen.com, because 2 out of 3 arbitrators decided that The Boss has no right to the domain name. Which is quite surprising considering most other celebs have won the rights to theirs. [ via Signal vs. Noise]

Sorry about the vague/bad linking and formatting ("Bruce Springsteen" shouldn't point to the article,) I didn't realise it until after I read it on the main page.

There was fire and brimstone on Slashdot about this. The key facts here were that the use of the domain was not deemed infringing (it's a fan site), and there was no evidence presented that the owner had tried to sell the domain over several years. Most of the celebrities who've won have demonstrated that the domain was being cybersquatted rather than used legitimately. Also, most domain owners who've lost haven't even presented a defense before WIPO. This one did.
