If Napster is shut down, I personally will boycott new CDs for the rest of the year. The only place I will buy CDs from will be used record stores, and those will be used. Otherwise, I will use what ever tools I can find to download MP3s and rip my own CDs.
The RIAA can be taught a lesson here. If the 50 million Napster users boycott all CDs for a period of three or more months, then the music industry will have no choice but to allow Napster to return. posted by DragonBoy at 9:53 AM on February 12, 2001
Looks like their NT4 server can't handle the hits, error 500, internal server error.
From Netcraft: The site www.ce9.uscourts.gov runs Lotus-Domino/5.0.5 on NT4/Windows 98.
I was using Hotline back in 97, before the banner ads. I haven't used it in a little over a year, but last I checked, it's overrun with banners, whereas on Napster, you can just point and click.
And let's also not forget OpenNap, the independently-run Napster-compatable servers. Just get Napigator or a Napster client that lets you choose what server you want to connect to, and have fun. posted by CrayDrygu at 10:12 AM on February 12, 2001
