Nice try, this one, but the Sleepless in Seattle one actually pulled off menacing a bit more smoothly. This one tries too hard. The Top Gun one is still my all time favorite of the meme.

I love recut movies/trailers, but I didn't find this one as convincing as some of the others I've seen. I agree with Blazecock, Billy Crystal just isn't menacing enough.

Man, there was a lot of pissed-off walking around after Meg Ryan in that movie. And I know the orgasm scene is iconic, but why ruin a perfectly half-decent faux-thriller recut by tossing that bit in? Zero menace. Sheesh.

Wait. Wait. Wait! Top Gun wasn't a gay love story? You know I have never seen it all the way through. I went to go see it on Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. Packed with pilots. They were laughing, making comments, and hissing so much I had to leave. Billy Crystal would make a rather milquetoast psycho. He would make a great Nazi collaborator, though.

tkchrist: Top Gun ( a guilty favorite of mine) is one of the best movies to get as a descriptive video. My local library has a wide selection of these. It's great to hear a narrator describe "Maverick enters the locker room, cracking gum in his brilliant white smile. He is a stocky, handsome darkhaired pilot and he throws his coat on the bench nonchanalantly." It's actually more homoerotic than usual.

The Shining remake is still, in my opinion, the best of these attempts, but the Harry Met Sally one does indeed do a good job of making the whole movie seem really scary and creepy. The Top Gun one linked above was funny, but not great. Thanks for the link.

This was somewhat interesting but I thought the add-on comments from the creator at BoingBoing were much more interesting.

"I noticed something a little ironic today regarding Viacom, YouTube, and my little video. iFilm, owned by viacom, took the recut, copied it, and uploaded it to their own viral video site, without referring back to the original video embed. Meanwhile VH1, also part of viacom, was nicer about it and embedded the youtube on their best week ever blog. What's funny is that it all happened the same day Viacom takes public their spat with YouTube and orders 100,000 videos to be taken down. A little contradictory, eh?"

I didn't realize that iFilm simply grabbed stuff and jammed it on their site on their own. Is that accurate or did perhaps someone else lift it from YouTube and post it?

I kept waiting for the video to pick up or something. couple of nice edits, but it lacked any real punch that was counter to the original movie's feel... shining rules.

I thought this was pretty good, but there was no good way of working the orgasm in and it would have been better left out altogether. It's about the weakest scene in the original movie anyway (which I love to bits).
