That's weird.

It's a NUBBIN.

It's her triple nipple.

I wonder if a foot-fetish enthusiast would find this anomaly a pro or a corn.

Supernumerary nipples, and less frequently supernumerary breasts, are present in about 1-5 percent of the population. Such alterations are more common in women, usually occurring along the embryonic milk line, which extends from the axilla to the groin.

Supernumerary breast tissue (SBT) is rarely found beyond the mammary line. However, the back, shoulder, face, and thigh have been described as sites of SBT development. When glandular tissue is present, SBT may be affected by the same disease processes that occur in normally positioned breast tissue. To our knowledge, this is the first report of SBT on the foot...

SBT is not exempt from the same diseases and physiologic processes that can affect normally positioned breasts, including the cyclical alterations induced by hormone action.

Embryology is weird.

*barf* Bodies can be damned strange.

Yes, I'm reminded of the day I received Anomalies and Curiosities of Medicine from "Broadway Bookfinders" in the mail when I was in the sixth grade. My mother didn't want me to bring it to school, but I did anyway.

I think this kind of thing was known even back when that book was published, back in 1896.

What gets me is how centered the nipple is, it actually doesn't look that strange. Unusual, yes, but not like a deformity.

It's certainly not as gross as the guy growing 'keratin-like matter' growing all over his hands *shudder*

There once was a gal from Brazil
Who's dermatologists got quite a thrill
From her supernumerary breast tissue
They made the Spring issue
With a budby-on-the-hoof. I feel ill.

Sounds about right. As a physician, I see them often. Many of the people who have them don't know what they are.

Anyone who is interested in the biology of this sort of thing (or in two-headed or cyclops animals, etc) should read Sean Carroll's wonderful Endless Forms Most Beautiful. It's not really about anomalies but rather how genes work to determine the shapes of animals and where the parts go.

Thanks neuron, I'm adding that to my list.

Also on the same topic, I highly recommend Armand Leroi's Mutants.

"Pseudomamma" is a very appropriate name for that sort of anomoly.

At the age of 25, I recently discovered that a mole under my pectoral is actually a supernumary nipple. Apparently they usually grow along the milk lines.

And apparently, males have milk lines.

Well that's udderly ridiculous!

Yep, I have one too, but--thank hoty jeebus-- not on my foot. It is just a tiny pink nubbin under the curve of my right breast. It really isn't noticable unless I point it out. Doesn't ole Marky Mark have one?

I was just thinking that this breasted-foot woman is really lucky she wasn't alive when people were executed for being witches. That has to be the best example of a "devil's suck" ever seen.
