You can't put a dot on the television. I don't like that.

Heh. My daughter didn't like that either.

That was fun!... I put a dot in the fish tank and the water splashed out as little dots.

Very neat and fun, I think my little boy is still too young for it but what IS the deal with not being able to dot up the teevee?

And it would benefit from some music.

Still fun though! Those durned rebel dots are trouble!

I couldn't get dots on the furniture either.

The angry dots made me giggle.

You can't put dots in the air either, they just get blown away. :(

fenriq, careful what you wish for, you might get it! To clarify, I'd say that music on these kid's interactive sites can get old really fast. Whenever there's music (and there usually is) it's invariably a relatively short loop that you, the parent, will get sick of listening to, over and over again. One of the main reasons I like this site so much is that there isn't any music, but rather a collection of very well done sound effects which, generally speaking, don't get irritating.

And by the way, visitors to the site, don't forget, there are more environments (beyond just the first room) to advance to. You can color the great outdoors as well.

Great. I can't sleep as it is...now this! Must color everything with rebel dots!

I find Yayoi Kusama just fascinating. Her work straddles the borderline between Fluxus-type stuff and visionary art. The visionary thing, she apparently comes by honestily, given that she has spent more than 20 years voluntarily living in a mental hospital. Also, she was Joseph Cornell's first (and, I think, only) lover, though some family members believed her to be motivated more by money than love. Anyone who wants to read more about the Cornell connection should check out Utopia Parkway, by Deborah Solomon.

palmcorder_yajna, thanks for the link to the Kusama interview. It was quite interesting.

That's way cute. I especially liked that if you put dots in the sky, they get blown away by the wind turbines...and the ripples from the dots in the pond are nice too.

At first I was charmed and delighted, but then as the number of dots grew, I was overwhelmed by sadness.
Long conditioning from reading MetaFilter left me feeling as if thousands of people I respected had just passed away.
OK, I'm lying, that was lovely.

If you put a dot in the sky it falls down... just like real life.

In the late 90's, I went to an installation that she "did". From the mental hospital where she resides, she designed the look of a large room: all surfaces were painted an eye-hurting bright yellow with large black dots, and with identically colored HUGE inflated pieces in the middle. Students assembled the work according to her instructions, and she never even stepped foot in the country.

The installation was really awesome, like she had beamed the entire experience to us. One of the best parts was when you left the room, you still saw large spots all around you. White spots on a purple background, floating in space. It was like your brain was carrying the art around for an hour afterwards.

Great links, flapjax and palmcorder_yajna!

flapjax, very good point on the music that quickly goes from entertaining to annoying.

That was much more fun than writing my thesis. Thank you.

I like chasing the cloud from screen to screen, adding colour that then gets magically revealed the next time the cloud passes.
