You know, I did effectively think I'd seen it all, which is why I stopped buying the Fortean Times about a year back (that, and it'd gone up to $10 an issue), but I'd never seen this before! Thanks! I wonder if William Corliss has documented this under another name.

I saw these once in Battleground, Washington, where I lived in 2nd and 3rd grade. They were neat. But the blackened, still-intact dome of Mt. St. Helens as viewed from my backyard was more impressive.
