I like how they refer to the perpetrator as a "hacker." This complex "hack" involves finding or stealing the right radio.

It was probably an asshole cop who did it. The get these 22 year old cowboys fresh out of the academy who get a gun and think they own the town. It's funny, the word "hacker" is starting to serve the same purpose as "criminal": it dehumanizes the offender, so it's easier to (a) be afraid of him/her, and (b) screw him/her to the wall when they finally get caught.

people who steal lunches out of community refrigerators deserve all the nailing-to-the-wall they can possibly get. i am still recovering from the traumatic 1995 theft of the last piece from a really good batch of my homemade lasagne from a refrigerator at the downtown offices of Norfolk Southern Railroad in Atlanta, Georgia. i will not rest until the perpetrator is apprehended. for great justice! that said, the 'hacker' who played "Jump" was obviously something of a sick puppy, but that did not stop me from snickering as I read the story.

Well, *some* of the commentary was on point, anyway. I wish I'd read the whole thread, before I quoted it in a politely pissy letter to the Managing Editor at ABC News about 'hacker'. That's what I get, I guess. :-}
