The Digital Freedom Campaign believes that new technologies are essential to the creativity and innovation, and that digital technology enables anyone and everyone to be an artist and an innovator. The DFC is dedicated to defending the rights of artists, innovators, creators and consumers to use lawful technology free of unreasonable government restrictions and without fear of costly lawsuits.

Don't we already have an EFF?

Yeah, I was about to ask, what's wrong with the EFF? Do these guys have some complaint about how the EFF works?

I like the EFF.

They don't make patently false claims Like:

digital technology enables anyone and everyone to be an artist and an innovator

At first glance this seems more focused on the creative arts than the EFF. Nothing about privacy issues or E-voting.

Yeah. I guess pencils are too hard to master. Filtering someone else's work through Photoshop is much easier.

I thought I liked the EFF. Then I saw this cavalier effort at an interview and I was seriously disappointed.

I'm not that familiar with the MoveOn situation, by the way.

Weak post. Besides the EFF, CC, the ACLU's tech division, etc., there's scores of advocates for this particular issue. Why are these guys special again? Why is this different from linking to Lawrence Lessig's blog or a Cory Doctorow screed?

You may have rounded corners, candy colors, and aquafied, dropshadowed, outer-glowed, gradiated fonts, but you, sir, are no Web 2.0.

The DFC? But the Dysfunctional Family Circus is all about fear of costly lawsuits.

I am not sure anyone visited the site before commenting, but that's your right too. The EFF (among others) are partners with this group. Other partners include the Consumer Electronics Association who believe that the RIAA, et al, are trying to suppress innovation in consumer electronics.

Personally, I think the more people fighting for artist and consumer rights the better, but that's just me.

As for labeling this a weak post? We can't all post about saving all caps day.
