these aren't vibraphones, they're marimbas and xilophones. vibraphones have metal bars and rotating devices in the resonating pipes.

Does anyone remember the rock group Gong, which used a Xylophone (at least during a small part of their existence)? The details are sketchy in my brain, but I believe they tried to get Sting to become part of Gong, but instead he took Gong's Xylophone player and they formed their own band, The Police. I think he was briefly their bass player.

I guess I just like Xylaphones, Marimbas, Vibraphones, and various variations.

I did a bit more research. The Gong I remember was a later incarnation. without the bassist that later joined Sting.

That was a cool group.

Well, there are some really campy, corny and dopey novelty music acts of the past that have warmth, charm, or some rewarding musicality that helps redeem their silliness, or gives the silliness some backbone. I can find no such redeeming qualities in this particular novelty act, however. This one is just dumb. And what on earth was that bass player thinking with that stupid arms-flying move?

Oh, and kids, let's get it all straight:

Xylophone.

Marimba.

Vibraphone.

And my personal favorite ancestor of these instruments, the balafon.

True. At least there's one lone vibraphone in the middle.

OKay, so this is terrible, it links to a freaking media file that won't play in browsers, with no warning, and those aren't even vibraphones for the most part.

For once, it plays perfectly in my browser (Firefox on Ubuntu Linux). Hurrah Ogg Theora!

I thought it was kind of fun. The bass player's spasms were pointless, but entertaining.
