This FPP should have been about Kircher's cat piano. posted by Roman Graves at 6:51 PM on April 25, 2007
Funny thing is, I never saw that other post when it was fresh. But I did see the piano playing cat on Boing Boing, which meant it must've been posted here as well. posted by thinman at 6:53 PM on April 25, 2007
Yeah but parm=serial, nobody included the sequel. :) And the sequel really is way better, with purring, duets and soulful limpid-pools-for-eyes.
Initially I thought Nora was just tapping the keys for non-musical reasons but in the duets and with her watching the other music students, she really does seem to want to make music somehow and participate. It's quite charming. posted by nickyskye at 6:54 PM on April 25, 2007
This cat is awesome. I keep trying to figure out what motivates her (the sound, knowing she can cause sound from a short distance, vibrations, the reaction of other people, what have you), but I'm stumped. We have two cats ad so I know a little something about them, but this is a toughie to figure out.
She's darn cute, fer sher. posted by grubi at 6:56 PM on April 25, 2007
Oh man, I love Nora. Nora was on CNN this morning. I was in my office building's coffee shop and everyone was staring at the tv and chuckling. On the one hand, it seemed kind of lame to have animal tricks on CNN, but on the other hand, it's been a pretty depressing couple of weeks news-wise, so it was really great seeing all these people watching the morning news and smiling.
My cat looks like Nora. I tried to get her to do this, and had absolutely no luck. posted by naoko at 8:02 PM on April 25, 2007

It's pretty obvious to me that they've put catnip or some other attractant between the keys. Ha ha. posted by spitbull at 4:18 AM on April 26, 2007

Does anybody else reckon a recently deceased classical pianist had really bad karma, and was reincarnated as a cat? posted by humblepigeon at 4:46 AM on April 26, 2007
Jon Stewart just laid the blame for Virgina Tech at Nora's feet, er, paws. Stop enabling this monster, MeFi! posted by homunculus at 10:16 PM on April 26, 2007
