Jack Valenti dies at 85

Jack Valenti. War hero, special assistant to LBJ & sometimes controversial president of the Motion Picture Association of America died today aged 85. He truly was a PG gentleman in an NC-17 world.
This post was deleted for the following reason: still dead -- mathowie
Sorry for the snark, seanyboy. I think I was just delighted by the combination of the 2nd Valenti thread, in which MeFites were admonished to keep their comments positive, and the original, which by that time was already chock full o' bile.

Since this is a double, let me just call Jack Valenti an asshat so we can get it over with.

If you'd just drive a stake through their hearts before burying them maybe they'd stay dead so we wouldn't end up with 3 obituary posts in under 24 hours for one guy. Sure, zombies or other forms of undead seem like a great idea, they're cute and cuddly right up until they eat your brains or drink your blood.

You'll be getting a letter from the MPAA about illegally dubbing this post.

Stake the heart, cut off the head, stuff the mouth with garlic, bury the whole mess at a crossroads...seriously, this isn't that hard!

I say to you that the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston strangler is to the woman home alone. -- Jack Valenti
Dosn't sound very PG to me.

You know how the MeTa sidebar lists proposed meet-ups, so that there doesn't have to be a new thread about each of them every couple of days? We need that for obitfilters, but it needs to be on the new post page. Just a list that says:
We already know that the following people are dead:
James Brown
Anna Nicole Smith
Kurt Vonnegut
Jack Valenti
Then all you would have to do would be to glance at that list before hitting 'Post".

I was at the beach last week and didn't watch the news or read the paper, and I had no idea that Boris Yeltsin was dead until 40 minutes ago when you made that comment.
