This is quite a find. Are these live performances or resampled 64k mp3s? The quality is off.

Summa dees tracks sound lo-fi, like uh, the ones off tha demo tapes. But a lot of the other sound as good as 128bps can sound, God. Word up.

Damn, that StartSnitching blog in your "via" is great. It linked to BrooklynRadio.net, whose show The Rub has just posted mixtapes covering the history of hiphop for each year from 1979-1989. Great stuff.

Aaaaand, just saw The Rub was posted here yesterday. I am slow.

It really is. Glad you like it, too.

Anyone have any favorite cuts here? With so many tracks, there's a lot of stuff to sift through. My current faves are U-God's "Heart Of Stone," RZA's "Fatal," Method Man's "The Afterparty," and RZA's "Unleash Me."

ODB's "Don't go breaking my heart" is wonderful. Oh ODB, I wish you could roll up to the welfare office in your limo everyday.

Download them all isn't working for me. How do I tell wget to just download only mp3s from links that are on a certain page but not follow links to other pages/domains (unless the are mp3s)?

(I'm always surprised by Flapjax gettin' all het up about the rap and not digging the punk that happened at the same time. Oh, to be in NY from '77-'83 or so...)

Sticherbeast - "Run" by Ghostface would be one to grab, it was my interview song while job hunting. Nothing like Ghostface before half an hour of trying to convince someone you're the guy to hire.

Flapjax, did you not get enough love for this post

Huh? I'm confused, klang! Whaddaya mean? My above comment was just to say, you know, here they are giving away music (and I'm a Wu-Tang fan, so no probs with the music) and somebody chimes in to say it's a drag that you have to download 'em one by one. So sloooooowly. I just found the comment somewhat amusing, that's all! Love the post! Love the Wu-Tang!

[deep voice] Big Trouble [squeaky voice] In Little China!

That was so cool!

...

What?

Okay. So. Two hundred and fifteen mp3s. I sneeze that many. Tell me which ones are actually worth downloading. Then maybe I'll get excited.
