B-han, if you need me to explain how sexy that was, then, I don't know. And those two dancers behind her? Sweet lord!

But yeah, those scratch videos are not to be missed. Genius.

I'm trying to figure out the theme. I think the theme is that I'm not stoned enough to figure out the theme.

Man, I love Ornette. For those who are taken aback by his late-70s style, a quote from the indispensable Penguin Guide to Jazz: "It was a shock to the system in 1975, hearing Coleman with what initially sounded like a rock band and then continued to sound like a rock band, except that repeated exposure reveals how many layers and subtleties this music camouflages... Ornette's alto playing is fiercely linear but jumps up and down the levels like some pixilated hero in an arcade game. The 'rock' influence is largely superficial, since the rhythmic approach is the opposite to rock's relentless emphasis on strong beats."

Thanks, vronsky!

I was pleasantly surprised upon hearing his recent LP Sound Grammar that he is still in top form. His musical quotations of Stravinsky on one of the tracks was particularly unexpected.

That Coleman clip rocked. but man, watching the side of Ornette's neck inflate and deflate freaked me out.

Hey, whatevs, it's all good to me.

Also, what show was that Ornette Coleman clip from. Was it a popular show? The equivalent of Sunburned Hand of Man playing Conan O'Brien?

It's from milton berle's show.

The theme is that Stairway to Heaven is better than all of these.

Listening to Ornette for me, is like getting tickled in three different spots simultaneously. And loving it. And I was going to include a wiki link to "harmalodics" l-hat, since Coleman coined the term, but to my surprise, there wasn't one.
His album Virgin Beauty with Prime Time and Jerry Garcia is still a pleasant surprise all these years later.

(winks at miss lynnster. Forbes made me do it;)
