I think I would have pored over this pretty obsessively as a young kid. And perhaps freaked myself out. posted by Drexen at 11:21 AM on May 8, 2007
I would have loved to have stuff like this as a kid. If anything just to freak out the other kids. posted by fallenposters at 11:25 AM on May 8, 2007
As a frequent reader of children's books, can I just say that I'm very, very, very, very, very tired of the "illustrated alphabet" concept? And who exactly is this particular book aimed at? A child old enough to think these illustrations are funny and not scary but still young enough to not know their letters? posted by DU at 11:27 AM on May 8, 2007
I think its aimed at people who like to look at freaky illustrations. I highly doubt you'd find this in the children's section. posted by fallenposters at 11:37 AM on May 8, 2007
Yeah, I kind of thought it was one of those things like UglyDolls, which is to say, inspired by stuff for kids, but marketed to us grownups with decidedly weird, whimsical, and/or morbid streaks. posted by infinitywaltz at 11:47 AM on May 8, 2007
