doFlick.com is a library of educational and instructional videos. It's short on content at the moment but it could turn out to be a useful resource. Who wouldn't benefit from knowing how to fold a plastic bag neatly?

This site is reminiscent of another that I linked to about a year ago. It was also short on content at the time, and has added a lot since then.

I was feeling the snark rise after a few seconds of the plastic bag video--I mean, how anal can you get? But the result was damn impressive. Great for traveling, especially if you're going to be carrying around a wet swimsuit later. But you could also make a bag keeper out of a plastic bottle.

Nice find! I especially enjoyed the standing wave demonstrations, they reminded me of highschool-era dreams of conducting my own infrasound experiments. Maybe when I find time to fold the plastic bags in my closet I'll get around to that also.

The front page is wrong. It should have immediate links to the really cool stuff, like the plastic bag folding. Instead there are three options: View Upload Search Uh... why was I here again? Oh yeah, plastic ba... no, that's not it. Ok, bye website. Feature some content on the home page and you might have a change. Might.

The bag folding video reminded me of that bit "The Anal Retentive Chef" that Phil Hartman used to do on SNL, where he carefully double or triple bagged every bit of scrap and then taped and stapled it neatly shut before putting it in the trash.

I love the idea of instructional videos online, but I don't understand what this site can offer that isn't already available from YouTube, Google Video, Revver, Metacafe, etc., etc. All the organizational/navigational design and technical infrastructure has already been done a zillion times, often better. Which leaves the social/cultural/community aspects for doFlick.com to distinguish itself. Those things are important, but doFlick doesn't seem to have any of the social features you'd expect - no forums, no contact lists, no feeds/subscriptions, no recommendations, etc. Plus, some of these videos are just too damn sexy to be allowed.

I think if I could motivate myself to fold all my plastic bags in that nifty and efficient way everything in my life would become aligned and I would achieve a state of nirvana. I don't think it's going to happen though.
