I'll get around to watching the whole thing. But I just wanted to say that that Granada title makes me think of Coronation Street. posted by evilcolonel at 8:42 PM on May 19, 2007
Amazing stuff, thanks. The YouTube commentary is interesting also. posted by motty at 9:29 PM on May 19, 2007

A comment double, and the 3rd comment in one of your own posts, no less, but still, I thought it was great the first time, and deserves more eyeballs, so...um....it sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm not, really. Thanks! posted by Jon Mitchell at 1:54 AM on May 20, 2007
sgt.serenity , I doff my cap to you.
There is no aspect of this documentary I do not love to pieces.
The brilliant music, the awesome dance moves (back-drops ahoy) the chewy accents, life on the factory line, the lovably hokey Granada production values - it's all rock solid gold.
I had been trying to buy "Soul Function - The Northern Soul Story" on DVD through Amazon and eBay for months with no luck without ever thinking to try youtube.
i) Thank you - this is fucking awesome. I'm meant to be working and have spent 30 mins watching this with a smile on my face.
ii) You Tube comments can be interesting - who knew? posted by blag at 6:28 PM on May 20, 2007
Actually, I prefer the Wigan outtakes. Love the dancing; sepia toned pics of hungry moppets in Northern factories- not so much. Especially after the third time round with the docu. Also the "In the Club" eight parter is a nice modern complement to "This England." Went on a bit of a Northern Soul bender a couple of months ago. In case you can't tell.
