Violence in Lebanon

Newsfilter: A shopping mall and parking garage were just bombed in Lebanon. No one has announced responsibility yet. So far one woman is confirmed dead. So far only Al Jazeera has a story on this specific bombing, but it comes in the wake of more violence in Lebanon today.
This post was deleted for the following reason: thisis why newsfilter isn't always right for metafilter. OMG this just happened is rarely a good reason for an FPP. -- jessamyn
ty for the info but this really belongs on CNN.com ---->

I love how the term "newsfilter" has gone from a deragatory word used to demean a person's post to being a simple designator.

Every single one of Al-Jazeera's top news headlines is about bombs going off and people dying. Not that I wish to appear insensitive to this ever-mounting pile of victims, but what makes this particular attack any more newsworthy or notable than the dozens of similar attacks perpetrated across the Middle East on a daily basis?

Today has really been the pits for posting. I've flagged four posts as "noise" so far.

On a personal note, this is the first time that I've seen a news story like this from the Arabic perspective. My Arabic isn't good enough to pick up everything they're saying -- but I did hear 15, and my Egyptian friend confirms that the size of the bomb placed under the car was 15kg, which apparently is fairly large for a car bomb.
