Oh god how I love zombies. Thanks!

Sweet!

Now I have another option when I've burned up KoL adventures and UrbanDead action points.

SentientAI - what, not on Nexus War yet?

The Last Stand. Similar, but side-view.

This is fantastic.

I came across this the other night. It's great for a while, but the endgame needs to be balanced. After you start getting the highest level of guns you can just mow them down.

Last stand is way better. Once you get the laser cannon and the powerup that grants you extra XP for maximum damage, the game is over. Or, rather, never over.

O man, this is exactly what I needed after staring at performance reviews all day.

This is good, thanks!

This was a great way to waste several hours. Like TungstenChef said though, once you've managed to get the best stuff it takes no skill and has no challenge.

I still played long past that point anyway though.

FUCK zombies.

If you can get the laser and the "1 XP for every point of damage over the zombie's max HP" powerup, then you can quickly buy anything else you want.

That was fun! I would pay money for a 4-player console version of this. Actually it would work well as a DS/Wii link-up game, where you select your weapons and can see your health/stats on the DS, but control the guy on the main screen.

Well anything with "zombie rampage" 'endless zombie" or "endless rampage" in the title has to be good. It's scientistically proven!

Artw - Thanks for sharing Nexus War with me. I'm a bit slow when it comes to certain things.

Hell, I'm just now thinking about buying a copy of Guild Wars--the original. Yeah, really.
posted by SentientAI at 12:30 PM on May 22, 2007

EndsOfInvention I demand you produce that immediately.
posted by Skorgu at 12:48 PM on May 22, 2007

Hmm, The Last Stand was good too, but way easier.

Same style but better IMHO: Boxhead: More Rooms, and Crimsonland
posted by anthill at 1:46 PM on May 22, 2007

Oh yes this is just what I needed. Thank you for this I love killing . . .zombies.
posted by nola at 1:46 PM on May 22, 2007

I was going to say that, anthill; this zombie game was fun but basically a crimsonland ripoff down to the upgrade names.
posted by BlackLeotardFront at 7:04 PM on May 22, 2007

Crimsonland is indeed good and from an indie developer which gives it bonux points, but unfree, and not playable while you're at work (not that I'd ever do such a thing, perish the very thought!). So, yeah.

what an awesome little game. thanks.

I must be missing something, some strategy.

I never make it past the first hour of the second day.

My exp points grow so slowly that the best weapon I've managed so far is a MP5. If I try to save up exp, then I get slaughtered. But then I never save up enough to get a better weapon.

What am I missing in this game! ARGH!

I find the G36 the best first weapon, then double your damage and clip size with the Famas. From there you need to save money for the laser and the movement speed upgrade. (After that, take Overkill if you feel like being invulnerably rich.)

As for basic tactics, try to move around so that enemies are lined or bunched up in your line of fire, and aim deep. When there's not many on the screen, don't worry about misses so much, just keep firing.

More tactics: when you're being overwhelmed by enemies from all directions - prioritise. Fast zombies, fat white and purple zombies and those tentacled things need to die first. if there's lots of the fat slow ones, alternate your shots between them to keep knocking them back.

If the base is getting swarmed, pump bullets into the zombies actively attacking the base and ignore the ones following you for a moment.

Tzarius' method - G36 then FAMAS then Laser & Overkill is a good one, although my base did get down to 3HP at one point so I wasted some money on repairs. It's probably worth increasing base HP by 25 at some point.

Then once you get the Laser & Overkill, one round will net you enough to buy everything. So buy everything and have some fun with the Pancor Jackhammer - holy crap, that thing is actually easier to use than the Laser.
