East Coast clubs, West Coast clubs, The Mefi East/West debate was closed (and a shameful double, evidently). May we, like, elucidate?

I don't understand. A photographer's website versus what seem to be ads for clubs?

What?

I don't get it either. A bunch of Jersey clubs vs. whatever that is in LA (70 yr. old hands, 5 yr. old breasts).

I'm all about clubitup.com for my daily dose of LOLGINOS but comparing it to the Cobrasnake is a little misleading. It's not like there's no hipsters on the east coast. You should be comparing the Cobrasnake to the Misshapes, but if you did you wouldn't have a metafilter post, you'd have the long running Gawker series called Blue States Lose that's been seen by just about everyone here every Friday for about the last three straight years.

West coast - laid back, kind, but sleep until noon

Would you kids shut the hell up, I'm trying to sleep here!

too bad,
when I see these pictures,
I definitely feel that I'm getting old.
I'm too old for that stuff.

I want to hurt these people.

But not these guys.

Yeah, that's a real grab bag of dipshits, there.

Why do people go to clubs when there are bars?
posted by jonmc at 4:12 PM on June 2, 2007

Hotter/drunker women.
posted by PeterMcDermott at 4:19 PM on June 2, 2007

That theory dosen't hold water, Peter. Club chicks are generally ecstasy-addled glitterati who wouldn't cross the room to spit on a dude like me's shoes and that's the opposite of hot (and I hate the word 'hot' anyways, what's wrong with 'pretty' 'beautiful' or 'sexy'). Plus booze is cheaper in the neighborhood bar than in some nightclub, and you can play whatever music you want on the jukebox without being at the mercy of some dipshit DJ. Plus they won't turn you away for not being fabulous enough. Bars win.

And I've got swinging doors a jukebox and a barstool
And my new home has got a flashing neon sign
Stop by and see me anytime you want to
Cause I'm always here at home till closing time

Yeah but jonmc, don't forget the other side of that coin:

Well each night I leave the bar-room when it's over
Not feeling any pain at closing time
But tonight your memory found me much too sober
I couldn't drink enough to keep you off my mind

Tonight the bottle let me down
And let your memory come around
The one true friend I thought I'd found
But tonight the bottle let me down

Now, maybe if ol' Merle had gone to a club...

yeah, clubs would be so much better if they played Merle Haggard.

Well, I suppose Mama tried.

not that I'm defending any of the freaks in these links, mind you.

but i would guess East Coast clubs top West Coast clubs by a huge margin. precisely because there are places in New York which don't turn you away because you're not fabulous enough, no glitterati, etc. (not that I've ever been to America - this is hearsay)

yeah, clubs would be so much better if they played Merle Haggard.

Not to mention Merle Travis.

*continues toward the highly unlikely goal of turning this club thread into a country and western thread*

I'd help you with that, flapjax, but I need to restring my pedal steel.

I was delighted to spot a colleague in one of CitrusFreak12's links. Glad you don't want to hurt him!
