I thought it was amazing how the dog suddenly froze on the spot half way through. Then I realized YouTube was still streaming the video. dash-dund I've heard that before, but it's wrong (if anyone cares). It's a German word, so to rely on convention somewhat, the English approximation of the chs contstruction is "x" or how you have it (DOCKS-und). It's similar to when people erroneously pronounce "bruschetta", as though it were German (broo-SHETT-uh). In Italian, the sch is pronounced like the sch in school (to Americans), hence broo-SKET-ta. /ot

There was an old skit—I think it was on Saturday Night Live—about this couple at a restaurant, deciding what to order, and they got into this increasingly intense argument about how to pronounce "bruschetta." The punchline was when the waiter came up to take their appetizer order, and they ordered "the little bread pieces with chopped tomatoes," and the waiter responded with, "Oh, you mean burrrsketty?" Not that funny, really, but it's stuck in my mind for years.

I have a terrier-poodle-dachshund mix running around at my house. Imagine poodle fur on a dachshund body with terrier legs, and you have my (incredibly ugly but sweet and high-jumping) dog. However, a satisfactory hybrid name of his ancestry has to date eluded me.
