Rihanna's "Umbrella" is arguably one of the most brilliant pop songs of the year. Producing a cover of it must be a daunting dask, but indie L.A. pop duo Swivel gave it a shot. Tai Heard and Eddie Tyclus have recorded an acoustic version of the song attempting to give it their own unique spin. It is virtually impossibly to beat the quality of the original, but kudos to Swivel for having the balls to give it a try. (Click here to download Rihanna's "Umbrella" on iTunes.)

threetwo, here on Metafilter, we don't really like it when people just copy/steal a blog post from somewhere else and post it here verbatim.

And, lo! Swivel cowered in fear of the Lord and the Lord sayeth "thy Street Team did Spam". The Lord wasth offended and cursed Swivel's crops and lands and the lament of Swivel's women covered the land as Swivel's armies were vanquished into Dust.

Rihanna's "Umbrella" is arguably one of the most brilliant pop songs of the year as argued by the shit stain that is threetwo who claims that his/her/it blantant ripoff and copying of a blog post makes a valid metafilter post considering that before this thread they had 3 comments to their name.

Dear Threetwo.

While this may not have been the astroturfing/pepsi blue it oh so looks like, it is still not considered to be a good post for Metafilter. We respect your effort, and we look forward to your next attempt with great interest.

Thank you.

"Producing" a cover of it might be a challenge, but recording a rushed, low-quality duet cover on acoustic guitars without re-interpreting the song at all seems hella easy. And hella awful to listen to.
