I know, I know, this is a blue and green site, the money is just rolling in because of that...
Here's some background trivia for you: Grant, the guy with the swirls page, is a longtime contributor to MetaFilter, and actually debuted the swirl logo page here on November 17 of last year. He only had 3 or 4 swirls then. I showed him alice's swoosh page in a comment, which he then linked off the swirl page. I suppose that's how the ALA author found the swoosh pages.
Another weird thing is that I sent a URL of a "Great Day in Harlem" to a bunch of people last week, telling them about how it's the best jazz film I'd ever seen (and I wanted to plan a similar photograph with a bunch of web folks). The author of the ALA piece happens to be the guy that runs that server.
It's a small web after all.... posted by mathowie at 3:15 AM on January 29, 2000
metafilter is also not trying to amass a privately owned
large Q&A database containing the
combined intellectual acumen of the whole internet.
