Custom Monkey Drawings & More

Illustrator Apelad has many various projects & flickrsets, including the fairly well known Laugh Out Loud Cats & the Hodgman inspired Hobo Names project, but some of the lesser known ones are awesome as well, including this set of images created for common HTTP Errors, this Alphabet of Monsters, and a personal favorite, Monkey!, wherein users send in a monkey description and receive in return a drawing.

This guy is talented, and I encourage other people to give him money!

The Laugh Out Loud Cats - damn, that's some seriously high-quality artwork there. Apelad's done his comic strip history homework; I'm seeing Herriman, Kelly, old Schulz, and a host of other funny page legends. Nice post.

That is some damn fine artistry. I quite fancy getting my own monkey now.

I like the hobos, but why are they all drawn from the same angle? He never varies his perspective, except maybe to flip it exactly. Other than that, I like his style.

Here is the hobo card that a friend got for me: Tikirobot Raj and his Superdog Zara. It is fantastic.

The error 405 not allowed cracked me up for some reason.
