Those are not bad at all compared to the crap that most people think of when you mention comics. You want to see 200 bad comics, just collect your local paper's comics page for a couple of weeks. *figured about 40 people would express this exact same sentiment, but as I am here early I will just go ahead and be the first to say it*
On preview: Damn you spoobnooble! posted by ND¢ at 6:53 AM on July 20, 2007
I laughed. The off-kilter, sort-of-not-funny thing reminds me of WhiteNinjaComics. Sometimes inscrutable; sometimes so bad I can't help laughing. posted by Mock Turtle at 6:54 AM on July 20, 2007
No, it's like Perry Bible Fellowship but also very different and resulting from a challenge to draw bad comics. posted by ORthey at 7:06 AM on July 20, 2007

Jim's Journal is actually one of the funniest comics ever, but you have to read about twenty of them in a row to see that.
(And these comics are great, too.) posted by interrobang at 7:15 AM on July 20, 2007
It all goes downhill pretty quickly after number 50. It goes from faux-bad to actually bad. That said, these are worth checking out: 21 24 25 42 46. posted by damn dirty ape at 7:16 AM on July 20, 2007

No, my wife has a couple Jim's Journals books so I've read more than 20 in a row. In fact, I'd say it works like this:
Reading < 5: Not funny
Reading >5 but <20: Funny
Reading >20: OK, I get it. Now be funny for reals. posted by DU at 7:20 AM on July 20, 2007
Jim Davis was obviously the guest author of number 9. posted by sourwookie at 7:23 AM on July 20, 2007

damn dirty ape, I agreed at first, but I found they picked up again and some of the later ones are just as great. posted by ORthey at 7:25 AM on July 20, 2007
Compared to 200 randomly-selected strips of "B.C.," "Momma" or "Marmaduke," this collection will provide more laughs. I enjoyed it. posted by Faint of Butt at 7:30 AM on July 20, 2007

I actually really like these in the same way I like the aforementioned White Ninja Comics: they're both so hilariously absurd/disturbing/nonsensical that I can't help but love them.
This is one of my favorites. I don't know why. It makes me bust out laughing. Maybe it's the way the bunny indicates that he was hit by lightning... posted by malthas at 8:04 AM on July 20, 2007

I agree with many of you, that I got more laughs from these than I have gotten in a year of Sundays from the regular comics pages.
Nice. Thanks Prospero. posted by genefinder at 8:26 AM on July 20, 2007
Seriously, you're praising a guy for failing? Because he failed his mission, you know. On an epic scale. Where oh where is the MetaFilter Snark Brigade when you need it?
The last panel of #11, for some reason, makes me laugh every single time. Man. posted by ORthey at 8:57 AM on July 20, 2007
I'd rather see any of these on the funnies page than Cathy, Family Circus, 9 Chickweed Lane, Sally Forth, etc., etc., etc. posted by blucevalo at 9:01 AM on July 20, 2007
When I clicked the link, I expected to see a list of anime-themed webcomics, which have been scientifically proven to be the worst comics ever created. Yes, even that one that you really like. It's okay. Really. I mean, I like White Ninja, so who am I to throw stones? posted by robocop is bleeding at 9:07 AM on July 20, 2007

It's like Jim's Journal, only funny.
Okay, that's not gonna fly. I could argue that Jim's Journal, by authorial intent or not, blows past anti-humor and into a still, white-light meditation on the atomic structure of a post-adolescent life. Or I could go after DU's kneecaps with this aluminum bat while yelling "FUNNY!".
I beg to differ! Jim's Journal is genius! In fact, I named my cat after Jim's cat in the strip, Mr.Peterson! posted by newfers at 11:15 AM on July 20, 2007
