Shareholders are shocked

Shareholders are shocked - shocked, I tell you! - to discover that Larry Ellison has been overstating Oracle's capabilities and earning potentials in public... and personally profiting from the deceit to the tune of $895 million! What will the little Gates-hating, sex-harassing genius think of next?!

I've heard the Gates bit and the genius bit, but what's the story on Ellison and sexual harassment?

"REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - A former software company employee convicted of forging e-mail to support her claim that she was fired for breaking off a relationship with the firm's chairman faces up to six years in prison.

Adelyn Lee had accused Larry Ellison, Oracle Corp.'s chief executive, of sexual harassment.

That doesn't prove, of course, that he didn't harass her... only that she was low enough to commit perjury and falsify evidence.

Forget these allegations. I want to know what Ellison did to piss off Associated Press photographer Paul Sakuma.

Yeah, that's right: accusations are enough. Not "were you convicted?", but "were you arrested?" Not, "there's insufficient evidence to prove it" but "there's insufficient evidence to disprove it." Not "we'll take your denial into account" but "we'll take your denial as proof against you." Not "the charges against him were proven to be unfounded" but "he was under investigation."

[I re-read "J'accuse!" this weekend and I'm still all fired up. Please, recognize the difference between being accused and being guilty.]

I've had the feeling for a while that the accused in child molestation/rape cases should also have their identity protected until convicted.

FYI: I know people (the female kind) who have worked semi-closely with him (such as sees him every day when he's not gallavanting around the globe in his jet or his yacht) and they have confirmed such behavior. From what I hear, womanizer is a nice term...

Anyway, he's definitely a loose cannon and a wild optimist (read: dreamer), so financial impropriety would not surprise me. However, usually these shareholder's suits are a moneygrab intended not to go to trial but to get any kind of settlement.
