Well, as clock/dancing girls combinations go, it's not half bad. Although, for I moment I thought that you'd get different dancing girls for every city/time zone and I almost blacked out over the sheer scope of the thing. But, alas, it wasn't so. It's like a bizarre form of performance art. And despite the fact that it has a sort of urgent beeping that I can just barely hear coming from my headphones, I'm finding it oddly comforting. Of course, I haven't a clue what is going on, but the girls seem to be having fun. So that's nice.

I, too, read the link as "unique lock" at first; then when I clicked on the link, I was totally mystified because at first there was only a ticking six-digit number on the screen. But when it finally loaded? COOL! Excellent music and cute Japanese dancers. I watched that for at least five minutes solid. Mesmerizing is right. And by the way, East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabbadi Champion '94 (ha!), that is an awesome mashup.

I don't like the design. It's not user-configurable. Should allow you the option to switch it to your local time. Should allow you the option to have multiple times appearing on screen simultaneously, in case you wanna know what time it is in Copenhagen, and you should be able to see the girls dancing all the time. The five seconds of wipes are unimaginative and annoying. The girls dancing. Nice touch. Like that. The pink and white wipes to other wipes? Not so much. Of course, it's not really a clock. It's an ad. Brings attention to the shirts. That's it's real purpose. In terms of it being a commercial, it's satisfactory. In terms of it being a useful clock, an entertaining diversion, or The Next Big Web Thing, it's a foul ball.

It's a simple, fun little self-contained entertainment that works nicely, as-is. It's not a web-app. It's just what it is. A little something to catch the eye and ear. People have such a hard time accepting simplicity these days. The five seconds of wipes are unimaginative and annoying. The "unimaginative" wipes work as a simple, effective framing device, keeping the focus on the girls. They're a tease. They provide a little tension...asking the question "what comes next?" Anything more engaging than that could become an entertainment unto itself, competing with, and drawing attention away from, the girls. They are the mechanical counterpoint to the organic flow of the girls. The wipes provide just enough movement to keep the visual toe-tapping clicking along.
