So Selick's directing Coraline, eh? I would have preferred Dave McKean to be more involved, but we'll see how it goes. posted by Faint of Butt at 6:10 PM on July 29, 2007
I remember seeing Slow Bob on Liquid Television and being absolutely blown away at how natural the twin's three-footed gait was. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, go back and watch it again, and pay attention to the way the twins walk. That, right there, is some good animation. posted by lekvar at 6:36 PM on July 29, 2007
As soon as I saw the twins, it looked familiar. I know I definitely saw it years ago but I didn't remember it. posted by miss lynnster at 7:18 PM on July 29, 2007
Coraline is great - I hope the film is equally as good! posted by blaneyphoto at 7:22 PM on July 29, 2007

I'd have to strongly disagree. At any rate you're taking issue with what? The writing? Which was mostly Gaiman's, and admittedly simplistic (it's a kid's movie). In the vein of similar movies like Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, it was excellent; and the music and visuals were really unique and well-done, and none of the acting was objectionable in the slightest.
John Hodgman ... Coraline's Father/Other Father (voice)
That almost makes up for Dakota Fanning voicing Coraline. posted by dw at 8:45 PM on July 29, 2007
Slow Bob has long been one of my favorite things. I wish it'd been picked up as a series... posted by rifflesby at 9:56 PM on July 29, 2007
Very cool. Never saw it before. Thanks. posted by washburn at 11:44 PM on July 29, 2007
I think one of the more surreal aspects of this is the sound design. The pounding on the door sounds like a basketball, and the sound of the twins heads knocking together sounds like a plastic bucket. posted by KirkJobSluder at 4:12 PM on July 30, 2007
