This certainly seems like something Cory Doctorow would be interested in on a Saturday morning.

I can't imagine why.

This is awesome. I just saw an early Dr. Who episode where they shrank due to an accident with the TARDIS. One of the excellent prop pieces was a giant match. My first thought was "I need to make one of those!"

Now I don't. Thank you, internet!

At least they do caution folks about handling all those strike-anywhere match-heads. Kids have died messing with those! However, the project would have been more impressive if the match stick had been made by gluing together individual match sticks.

I never realized that the match has such a long and colorful history.

I had hoped he did it by making his own red phosphorus/ potassium perchlorate concoction, like this guy.
