Because everyone loves a good superlative, the Google Earth Community's "Huge and Unique" page lists the world's tallest, deepest, longest, widest & general all-around most of everything there is. With pictures! Found via.

I stopped reading when it claimed that Mera Peak, Nepal was the greatest vertical drop on the earth at 6604 m. Wikipedia lists its summit at 6476 m, so not only is it off, but it seems to be assuming that the foothills are at sea level. Right.

I stopped reading when you cited Wikipedia to correct something.

But seriously, it looks like this is the real tallest near-vertical drop.
