The Bender Brewer Project. Inspired by an episode of Futurama in which boozy robot Bender is used to brew beer, Star Wars ASCII animator Simon Janson decided to build his own Bender to use to brew his own beer. Among the many careful details that went into this project was to actually build the robot's brain out of a 6502 processor, as specified in the show, and to build a remote detonator to operate his brain.

If I knew offhand how to express AWESOME or perhaps more culturally appropriate BRILLIANT in 6502-talk, I would do so at this instant. Kiwi beer robot freak dude, you are my hero.

So insanely awesome it's hard to put to words. I love when people get so far into something that brilliance comes out.

Just think how happy and cool the world would be if everyone had something like this brewing in their basement/closet/garage/workshop.

There would be no time for war, religion or other violent distractions. Awesome stuff.

Related: The Bart Bong. I doubt as much effort went into it...

It's like someone brought into existence the physical embodiment of everything I've ever loved in the world. Surely the Germans have a word for "I would lick the anus of this man in appreciation". Arschlochdanken?

That is the most awesome thing I've seen in a while. That guy's attention to detail is amazing.

From the man who also brought you the Tardis MAME Console.

Looking at these projects, I feel just so.... inadequate.

This was my thought exactly. Not only is this guy less lazy than I am, he is less lazy than I am in about a dozen distinct and marketable ways.

But isn't there some sort of paradox in putting so much work into building a robot who is the embodiment of lazy and the antithesis of effort?

Yeah...I thought I was pretty handy for building a sailboat sandbox. This beats the heck out anything I know how to do. Plus...Beer!

Coolest thing, evah. Fabu find Astro Zombie
