MAKING HAPPY/one human life is a photoblog by Gayla Trail.

This seems to be the kind of thing that people used to put in a diary. Now they make a blog. Nothing wrong with that, of course: seems like the kind of thing her friends and family might want to read/see from time to time. But otherwise I have to say I find it all so utterly unremarkable (both her diary-style writing and her photography) that I can't exactly fathom why strangers would be at all interested in this. Her friend's gardening boots? Some ice cream truck she saw? She had to go shopping for something for a wedding? I dunno, maybe I'm missing something. I must be missing something.

I think I'm missing it too.... (which, of course, doesn't mean there isn't something notable here, just that I'm not seeing it.)

JohnR...tell us what prompted you to post this, perhaps that will allow us to look past our initial perceptions of this site.

Other than this just being a link to someone's typical blog, should I be seeing something else here?

It has been a mostly anger-filled day. Gardening helped for a while. But now I need to write something.

But I don't need to read it.

Hmmm... maybe there's something in the source code.

I don't care for the navel gazing, but if you go through the archives, there are a few decent pictures.

I've been so quiet lately. I don't seem to write much of substance here anymore.

...aaand that's where I stopped reading. I'm willing to take her word for it.

Oh, this isn't so bad. A lot of the photos have a quiet quality that I like. The text is all interior-monologue-y which can be boring to read too much of, but goes with the photos. I think there's room for quiet and quirky little corners in "the best of the web".

Hmm. I remember Makinghappy being more interesting, back when I used to post on Toycamera (how I found it in the first place).

I am still a total sucker for the Horizon shots, though - most of them are pretty darn good. Which only reminds me that I need to use mine more often.

I agree, the photos are worth it; they were certainly stressed in the post title not the bla bla bla jabber.
It's her blog she can do what she wants and I'm sure it's not to impress Mefites. I found it rather theraputic sounding from her perspective and did appreciate the photos. Thanks JohnsR.
