YouTube for Scientists

SciVee is a site where scientists can upload video presentations alongside their published research. I especially like this one, but there's a lot to explore.

I think that this kind of initiative that attempts to bridge the colossal gulf between science as it is disseminated betwen scientists, and science as it is reported by the traditional media, is a Good Thing. More information from (and also via) one of the old-media outlets that is coming closest to trying to bridge this gap from the other side.

Every video page on the site consistently freezes Firefox on Mac. For me, anyway. Too bad, it sounded interesting.

Works fine for me in Safari, and Firefox and Camino fail to show the video rather than freezing.

Froze in Linux Firefox too. But still: Awesome. Why is there no science content in (ostensible) science writing anymore? I'm reading a book on the Difference Engine and there are zero (0) equations. The word "polynomial" occurs on a single page. Seriously, W.T.F. How can you write 300 pages on a computer that solves polynomials and not even give a single example. How many books on Rembrandt have zero paintings?

I think this is really cool. Normally I dislike youtube for conveying anything beyond dogs on skateboards, but I actually would be more likely to watch someone talk about their research than read it.
