art with a lot of concept

Fate, Absolute Life and Death, the Aleph, the Zeitgeist, the sinking of the Atlantis, the World Trade Center, the formation of the universe...what more could you want from art? There's probably already been a been a post on this guy, Paul Laffoley, but I should hope more people could get a glance at some of this man's work. Crazy or brilliant, you make your decision. A video from his website.

Your first link is the same as the second, and the main website does horrible things to my browser.

concept lacking in execution.

My name is Paul Laffoley, and I will re-size your browser every time you click on something in my website.

That aside...I love stuff like this. Crazy or not, the guy's way into it.

Send an e-mail to jessamyn and/or cortex. They are very helpful in cleaning up borked links, etc. in FPPs.

Ya gotta click on what comes up.

Interesting. But he's crazy. A genius, but crazy.

I always wondered what became of Mac from Mac and Me.

thanks ericb, will do

Mod note: Cleaned it up a bit per the above; no worries there, moonbizcut. ericb, no harm intended I know, but I'd rather folks link to my profile than throw my email in plaintext into a thread, esp. since the email I reply from may not be the one I use as a front end on my user page. Thanks!

Crazy or brilliant, you make your decision.

You make it sound like the two are mutually exclusive. They're not.

I've always said: you don't touch another man's trousers, take another man's Mauser, kill another man's Bowser, or resize his browser. Yowza!

I've met the guy. Very interesting. He did a ritual performance trying to turn himself into a shadow...

i think i've seen the orgone machine around the web before, never knew who drew it though. the WTC memorial is too cool.

Thanks, moonbizcut, this is interesting. I think I may have seen some of his work. Folks, don't miss the wikipedia article and links. A quote: "According to Laffoley, he spoke his first word, "Constantinople", at the age of six months, and then lapsed into 4 years of silence." There is more to think about here than, for instance, Alex Grey.

Amazing art. Made by whom appears to be a raving lunatic.

As a lunatic who makes art, I can appreciate this.

related to timecube guy?

And man oh man how awesome would it have been for the WTC towers to be replaced by a Gaudi design?

Oops...my bad. Sorry. I should have known better.

I gotta say, I really like this guy’s art.

It’s like a finding a sincere diagram of gnostic secrets inside an encyclopedia from the 1950s. Good stuff.

From the video:

"It's a vehicle for traveling across the ocean using a kite... and, and a boat"

You mean, a sailboat?

This article certainly explains a lot.

He's not crazy. And I would never let a painting of his anywhere near my living room.

Laffoley is in my top five list of living people, and it's always good to see his work get more exposure.
