Pre-1990s Sports Card Portraiture (Flickr slideshow) Images of pre-1990 sports cards which feature excellent photographic portraits, not action shots. I will delete stuff I don't think is good enough with abandon.

Featuring appearances from Willie McGee, Duke Snider, Steve Carlton, Carmen Fanzone, The Secretary of Defense, Bubba Smith and Joe Pettini.

Oh wow, my son has several of these "portrait-style" sports cards that he bought at a garage sale (a gallon-size Ziploc baggie FULL of them, mostly baseball and football, for a couple of dollars; hmm I wonder if they're worth more than that). They're all from the 70s and 80s. I never really paid much attention to the fact that there was a difference between the portraiture versus the action shots. Very interesting. Thanks, dhammond!

I have a signed copy of this one somewhere. My grandma used to work with a lady that he was sleeping with when he came to town...
