At first, the music that autoplays on some pages was a little irritating, but it does sort of fit the trippy nature of the images and his descriptions of the stars - "Looking at the old crone's profile, imagine you can hear the evil cackle of this witchy woman." Good post.

wow. Wonderful post. Great site although I found the spinning world icon on each page a visual irritant and made reading the text difficult. Otherwise, loved the images and the explanations.

I love the gut wrenching feeling of contemplating how far away, and how large, other galaxies are. I love the very fact that there are other galaxies, when one is plenty big enough to be unimaginable. The extra-galactic series is astonishing. Thanks, Blazecock Pileon.

Excellent. The backyard astronomer has access to capabilities now that earth-bound professionals would have wished for not all that long ago. Looking at the camera he is using: Please contact us for price and availability. (Ouch! That's a bad sign.) See also: a review thread for that camera.

Folks interested in astrophotography may want to watch "Seeing in the Dark" on PBS this Tuesday. Its an excellent documentary about amateur astronomy and astrophotography with some really beautiful footage.
