Musical positions. Not safe for a music stand. And really, the triplet bracket belongs in the final measure.

This one might be safe for work. Depends on the kind of work.

To me the most amusing thing - the placement of the rests.

That kind of made me horny.

This is cute. But they're all quarter notes! There's only one half note in the whole damn orgy! What, 8ths and 16ths never get laid?

For once I think my musical illiteracy is an asset.

That would be French horny, no doubt.

I think this brings up the whole issue of sex and violins, as well.

Who's playing the organ?

Not Safe For Musicians (with bad backs).

Weird coincidence: I saw this post just moments after I watched "High Note."

I think that note at the top of the 4th bar came in a little prematurely.

I was imagining something more like this.

16ths are legal in some states.

hmm, lekvar, I wonder if anyone's programmed that in MIDI...

Fun stuff (though the time signature should be 4/4). Serge was a friend & I'm sure he'd appreciate this.

You don't read music, do you? ;-) We are mostly average...

No, in fact I don't! Coulda sworn those were 4ter notes, anyway... I knew I shoulda gone to music school!

Oh, and,

We are mostly average...

Well, naturally, we can't all be as exceptional as you...

There should be such a thing as musical criticism.

There should be such a thing as musical criticism.

Well, there is in fact a little bit out there that's worthwhile. I think Frank Zappa, for example, was pretty spot-on when he said "shut up 'n play yer guitar"...

Two Serge Gainsbourg's songs that could have insired this score : je t'aime moi non plus, la decadanse. Both refer explicitly to a couple having sex, the second one is more focused on the position stuff. Music, as (nearly) always with serge, is great. Thanks for the post, it's been a while since I've listened to his music.

Pervert! The 8ths and 16ths aren't legal in these parts short-eyes.

What's with the D-flat key signature?

And yeah, the time signature doesn't have anything to do with how many notes are getting it on in each bar.
Let 'em chuck the barlines and go at it unmetered.
posted by bassjump at 5:53 AM on September 19, 2007

Bummer about that nonsensical key signature.
