That site on making liqueurs at home is excellent. This will go well with my new found interests in bacon making (got my pork belly and pink salt coming this weekend!), and making bitters, as well as my obsession with homebrewed beer. Awesome!

I have a friend who likes to say, "Death to your enemies!" as her customary toast. I customarily find this very amusing, for some reason.

This is good. I'm excited about the Cranberry Liqueur recipe. If I make it within the next few weeks I can give some away to relatives at Thanksgiving. The section on bottles and bottling is a good read as well - I collect cool vintage bottles and would love to use some for this.

It's so obscure, I was beginning to think I might have imagined it, then during a search for the phrase, I learned about current practice among shamisen manufacturers in China.

According to my roommate, the Swedish toast "Skål" is traditional because it means "skull"...back in the day the warriors drank out of the rounded-out skulls of their enemies.

My personal toast to start an evening of intoxication: "To fermentation, the natural process by which all of life's problems are solved."
