Like free music? Like Blogs? Try putting them together: To start, search Hype Machine and Elbo.ws to find music you like. Then start following the links and blog-rolls, and before you know it, you'll have dozens of blogs just begging to give you songs to download. So today is link to your favorite musicblog day on mefi? I'm not huge in to "indie rock" but a friend of mine runs You Ain't No Picasso. Palms out is totally wicked - check out the Sample Wednesdays, particularly those for MIA, Basement Jaxx, and Daft Punk.

If you like music blogs, you should try songbird, which is a browser (built on forefox) that treats webpages containing mp3s as playlists. So, you just go to the music blog, it populates a list with all the mp3s it finds, and you can play them right off, without downloading first.

I'd like to second the Songbird is seriously beta statement. The idea is cool and the first release will really be something, but the recent versions I've tried have been crashy. And, I think I got this from MeFi, but there's also Skreemr. I have both Skreemr and The Hype Machine in my Firefox search box and use them regularly.

All these sites are great, and I'm sure others know the ones that I'd mention ... I'm kinda afraid to link to my favorite open directory sites for fear that they get too much traffic/attention/shutdown. :( One favorite conventional MP3/music blog (not mentioned yet) is music (for robots).

Most of these seem to have embedded Flash players for the actual music, but for the ones that don't, playtagger is a handy bookmarklet to have. It embeds a mini mp3 player into the browser wherever there's a direct link to an mp3, so you can play the songs directly. Thanks, nice post...

The writing on Said the Gramophone (mentioned above!) is pretty fantastic. I would pay them to write if I had the means or reason to pay them to write. You should consider the same. Don't forget: Soul Sides Aquarium Drunkard Peel is also worth checking out as an aggregator software (albeit Mac only).
