these are fun! it's wild how when you tell your brain to find a face, it automatically interprets otherwise tame symbols as features of a human face. They just pop out!
You never find a mouth, then eyes and oh! theres a nose, the face is just there. posted by milestogo at 12:46 AM on September 25, 2007
oh that's so, so SO cute. posted by Phire at 1:23 AM on September 25, 2007
A simple idea really well executed - just one or two photos by themselves wouldn't be much but the concept grows on you as you see more. I like this roof in particular. posted by patricio at 3:48 AM on September 25, 2007

Several years ago I spent some time thumbing through a photography book in a bookstore, by a photographer who had put together an entire volume of exactly this kind of stuff: face forms, in all sorts of inanimate objects, and it was excellent. Now I want to know who it was, because as good and charming as some of these are, this book was, as I recall, better. Page after page of delightful and surprising finds. Can't remember the photographer's name, of course... It might've been from a pair of photographers: I'm thinking maybe husband/wife team.
If it weren't bedtime I'd dig around the nets for it. posted by flapjax at midnite at 6:08 AM on September 25, 2007
Yeah, this is great. I used to see faces in car fronts too as a child. It's funny how you forget these things as an adult until someone reminds you. posted by triv at 6:13 AM on September 25, 2007
I was all set to rabidly trash "What are you stairing at?" until I clicked on the link and burst out laughing.
(I really have to get a life.)
Great site! Thanks for linking it. posted by Mike D at 6:16 AM on September 25, 2007

I love it. We did a Photo Friday theme on found faces at MetaChat last year. Not a very popular theme there, but as you can tell, I had fun. posted by iconomy at 6:56 AM on September 25, 2007
flapjax, this might be the book you're thinking of - Face to Face by brothers Francois and Jean Robert. They've both also done a few other face books which you can also find at Amazon. posted by iconomy at 7:49 AM on September 25, 2007
It seems more like Faces in Things, but that doesn't rhyme as well. In any case, fun to look at. Thanks for the link, Orb. posted by LeLiLo at 8:31 PM on September 25, 2007
